I am trying to setup the vMA to use for ESXi SysLogs as outlined here: http://www.simonlong.co.uk/blog/2010/05/28/using-vma-as-your-esxi-syslog-server/
Everything is going fine until I go to format the 2nd HD that I have added to store the actual log files and it just gives me the error message "unable to open /dev/sdb". I am logged in as vi-admin. The fdisk -l command doesn't even return anything.
I have formatted it as thick and thin, set it up on a different SCSI controller and placed the disk on several different datastores and the same issue occurs.
I know almost nothing about Linux so any help would be appreciated.
